Black Friday and Cyber Monday Smoker Shopping: What to Check First

Before you buy a smoker on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, check the exact model and year, the usable cooking size, what is in the box, who backs the warranty, and the return and delivery terms. In 2026 Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, Black Friday is November 27 and Cyber Monday is November 30, so you have time to decide now what a good deal would look like. A discount only helps if the smoker fits your cooking.

The dates, and why a plan beats a scramble

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026, according to the federal holiday schedule. Black Friday is the day after, Friday, November 27, and Cyber Monday is the following Monday, November 30. Sales do not always follow those dates exactly, so read the start and end on each listing instead of assuming.

The main risk is not missing a deal. It is buying a smoker that does not fit your cooking because the discount made it feel urgent. Spend an evening now deciding what you need. Our smoker buying checklist covers the basics, and the next section turns it into a sale-day short list.

Write your must-haves before the sale starts

  • Fuel. Pellets, charcoal, wood, electric or gas. Be sure you can store and buy it where you live.
  • Cooking size. The biggest cut you cook, plus how many people you feed. Use grate dimensions and lid height, not only total area. See how big of a smoker you need.
  • Power. Pellet, electric and gravity-fed cookers need an outlet near where you will place them.
  • Space. Measure the spot, the path to it and the storage area, including shelves, chimney and hopper.
  • Features you will really use. A controller, app or insulation is only worth paying for if it fits how you cook. Our guide to features worth paying for helps sort that.

Then narrow to two or three models and note the exact model number of each. Check each maker's page for dimensions, included parts and warranty now, while there is no timer running. On sale day you will only be matching a listing to notes you already made, which is much harder to rush.

Sale patterns worth a second look

  • A "was" price you cannot verify. If you cannot confirm what the item cost on other days, treat the discount as a guess. Keep your own notes on the model you want during the weeks before.
  • Padded bundles. A bundle is only good if you wanted what is in it. Cheap accessories you will not use do not add value.
  • A model number that does not match. If the number on the listing differs from the maker's page, find out why before buying.
  • A third-party seller. Check whether warranty claims go through the maker, and whether the maker honors them for that seller.
No promises

We do not track prices and cannot say what any retailer will offer. This page is about what to check, not about deals.

Returns, shipping and timing

Read the return policy before you pay. Look for the return window, any restocking fee, who pays to ship a heavy item back, and whether an assembled or used cooker still qualifies. Holiday purchases sometimes carry different windows, so find out for this seller.

On delivery, the FTC's mail, internet and telephone order rule says a seller that makes no shipping statement must have a reasonable basis to ship within 30 days, and a seller that cannot ship on time must give you the chance to cancel for a prompt refund. If a gift has to arrive by Christmas, which falls on Friday, December 25, 2026, check the delivery estimate on the listing and plan a buffer.

Budget for the extras

A cooker is rarely the whole bill. Most owners also need a thermometer, fuel storage and a cover. Measure the smoker with shelves and chimney attached before you order a cover, since fit depends on the cooker's real outline. Affiliate links open a search on the seller.

Instant-read thermometer

A basic tool that works with every smoker, so it is a safe add-on to a new purchase.

  • Read the maker's instructions for range and care

Outdoor cooker cover

Order after you know the model and have measured it. A cover that does not fit does not protect. Never cover a cooker until it is completely cool.

  • Measure height, width and depth with shelves and chimney
  • Check the cover's listed dimensions against yours

Bottom line

Decide what you need before the sale, then check the exact model number, size, included parts, warranty and return terms on the listing against the maker's page. We do not promise discounts. A smoker that fits your cooking at a normal price beats a mismatch on sale.
